JURASSIC PARK MURAL 4' x 6', 1997.

My name is Corrado R. Mallia. I am a Toronto area mural painter. I studied Graphic Design at George Brown College of Applied Arts, and worked in the field doing magazine layout, but my true lifelong love since a young child has always been drawing and painting, and especially painting murals where the larger scale gives me more space and freedom to splash colors and life into this world.

I got my first airbrush at 15 in an affort to achieve better blending of paints. I didn't know how to use it then, and in those days, not many places to learn so I set it aside for a couple years. I did pick it back up again and taught myself to use it and painted many murals in my parents home who were always very supportive (thanks Mom and Dad!) I use a combination of airbrush and traditional paintbrushes in my work as they both have their strengths.

My first professional job was in 1997, since I am also a huge movie lover I approached a Toronto movie theater in an effort to get my work out there. The theater hadn't yet received any promotional material for the second Jurassic Park movie, and would need the mural immediately, but they didn't officially green light the project as the manager was away. I took a chance, having confidence hoping they would love it, painting all through the night on a 4 by 6 foot panel in my home studio. The theatre loved it and purchased it on the spot. I knew this what what I wanted to do for the rest of my life and I never looked back.

I have painted murals for many restaurants, corporate establishments, schools and residences and love the fact that I get to depict a wide variety of subject matter in his work. From Lavish jungles, underwater odysseys, sunset beach paradises, sci-fi and fantasy themes and Hollywood celebrity and Rock star portraits. I can work from photographs for references, but prefer to custom design my work according to my customer's needs. My work has been featured in Art Scene International, AB Mag, Airbrush Action Magazine, The Toronto Star, Airbrush Step-by-Step Magazine (Germany), GREAT GARAGE MAKEOVERS Magazine, Createx Workbook (Germany/North America), Whatever Vaughan, and The Economist and Sun.

All my murals are painted with non-toxic, waterproof, premium quality exterior acrylic paint. A water-based, weather resistant clear-coat is an available option for even greater protection, though not usually necessary. I paint everything with love and to the best of my ability. For me quality is Always more important than quantity.
